UGC Net Application Form 2024: Dates, Eligibility, Application process and more
The University Grant Commission released the official notification regarding the registration process on the 20th of April 2024. The exam is conducted biannually for students who want to join junior research fellowship programs and become assistant professors. Candidates who wish to apply for the exam can submit the application form by 10th May 2024. How to apply for the UGC Net?
It is pivotal for students to understand the application process for the exam first and then apply for the same. Below are the following steps one needs to follow to apply for the exam.
Visit ugcnet.nta.in, the official website of the UGC, and click on the application form for the UGC NET 2024 June examination.
There, click on the registration and sign in.
Carefully register with a valid email address, mobile number, and password.
After registering yourself, fill out the form using your basic information related to personal information, educational qualification details, and other information as needed in the form.
The next step is to upload your valid documents like pictures, signatures, and marked sheets.
Next, pay the application fee, click on submit, and take an online print of the confirmation page.
The fee is 1150/- for general, 600/- for OBC, and 325/- for the SC/ST category.
What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the UGC Net Exam?
It is important to understand the eligibility criteria for the exam. Candidates from the general or general AWS category should have passed the master's degree or equivalent examination from a recognized university with a minimum of 55%.
There are other educational qualifications as well.
Either candidate must hold a postgraduate degree from a university recognized by the UGC.
OR, you have a four-year undergraduate degree, and you secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks.
Candidates who belong to the reserved category are granted a relaxation of 5% in the qualification.
Additionally, students who have cleared the State Eligibility Test before June 1, 2002, do not need to take this exam.
Is there any age limit for the UGC NET Exam 2024?
There are different rules for candidates who want to apply for UGC NET JRF or only UGC NET Assistant Professor in 2024.
A candidate must not exceed 30 years as of the first day of the month in which the UGC NET 2024 exam for JRF and there is no age limit for the post of assistant professor.
However, you belong to the reserved category, a relaxation of 5 years under the age criteria is provided for UGC NET JRF.
What is the exam pattern in the UGC NET 2024?
The exam pattern for UGC NET 2024 consists of two papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
On paper 1, the number of questions will be 50, and on paper 2 the number of questions will be 100.
The exam does not have negative markings.
Paper one is of 100 marks and paper 2 will be of 200 marks.
For paper one, a total of one hour will be allotted, and for paper 2 a total of two hours is provided.
UGC NET Exam Schedule 2024
The UGC Net Exam is scheduled for 16 June 2024, as announced by the National Testing Agency. The exam will be held online, in the Computer Based Test mode. The exam will be 3 hours and conducted in two shifts from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and in another shift from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The reporting for the students will be 7:30 am for the morning, and 1:30 pm for the evening shift, respectively. The last to apply for UGC NET is 10th May 2024.
