CUET Exam 2024: Know All About the Exam

CUET stands for Common University Examination Test. This test is conducted for the students after their 12th class as a common entrance test for UG admissions across 45 countries and for more than 450 universities. The NTA, National Testing Agency of India conducts the exam online. This year, the exam will be conducted from May 15 to May 31, 2024. Registrations for the exam have already closed. The registrations began from 2nd February 2024 till April 5, 2024.

CUET Exam Pattern 

The exam is conducted in 13 different languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Punjabi. There are 3 sections in this exam. The first section of CUET 2024 is to judge the candidate's language proficiency through reading comprehension, literature aptitude, and vocabulary. The second section assesses the candidate's subject knowledge for the course they applied for. The third section on the other hand will check a candidate's general knowledge, current awareness, logical and analytical reasoning. Below is the detailed syllabus for the CUET exam 2024.

CUET syllabus for 2024 

Section IA & IB - This section is to test a candidate's language skills through reading comprehension. It is based on different types of passages - Factual, Literary, and Narrative on scales of Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary.

Section II - Based on CBSE class 12th syllabus. It is to check a candidate's knowledge of the subject.

Section III - Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numeral Ability, General Knowledge, and Quantitative ( Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/ algebra geometry/ mensuration and statistics till grade 8) and logical reasoning.

CUET Exam Date 2024 

CUET Exam 2024 is just 15 days away and students must have begun with their revisions for the preparation for the entrance test. One can find previous year's question papers either on the official website of NTA or many other educational websites. A student must solve the previous year's question papers for a better understanding of the exam and its pattern. The exam is scheduled to be held between May 15 to May 31, 2024, therefore the students must buckle up and give it their all for their dream college. A thorough look into the syllabus would be of great help to plan a preparation strategy. The syllabus for the CUET can be downloaded from the National Testing Agency. 

What are the eligibility criteria for CUET 2024?

A student who wants to apply for the CUET Exam 2024 should know that there are certain eligibility requirements that a student must fill to be eligible to appear in the CUET Exam.

Eligibility Qualifications:

  1. Students who are applying must have completed their class 12 or are appearing in 2024 and may take the CUET 2024 test. However, they must fulfill the criteria of each university, institution, or organization they want to attend.

  2. They must have secured at least 50% in class 12th for the General and 45% for the SC/ST category.

CUET 2024 Marking System 

As per the CUET exam, the candidates will obtain marks out of 100. The marking scheme as established by the NTA, says that there will be 100 questions altogether. However, the exam will have negative marks for the wrong answer. For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded, and 0.25 points will be deducted for every wrong answer. But if a candidate chooses to leave a question unanswered, zero marks will be provided.

National Testing Agency 

The National Testing Agency is an autonomous testing organization that conducts entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher education institutions. The agency assesses the level of competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment. This is one of the enduring challenges lies in aligning the terms of matching international research standards, efficiency, transparency, and error-free delivery.
