Nestled 185kms away from Delhi, Alwar is popularly known for its forts, lakes, heritage palaces, and tempting food. The third highest populated district (2011 census) of the state, Alwar is rightly identified as Kashmir of Eastern Rajasthan making it a perfect weekend getaway from Delhi within 200kms.

1. Bala Quila

One of the most historic destinations in Alwar, the fort boasts of zero battles fought and hence the name Bala Quila (Kuwara fort). Breezy winds and roadside food stalls turn Bala quila into a favourite tourist attraction in Alwar that should not be missed.

 
 


2. Sariska Tiger Reserve

Sariska wildlife sanctuary with 800 sq km area divided into the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, sheer cliffs, and rocky landscape offers a plethora of fun activities for visitors such as camel safaris, and visits to medieval palaces or wildlife watching. Sariska National Park is home to India's largest population of peafowl, harbours quail, sand grouse, golden-backed woodpeckers and crested serpent eagles, among other species. Also, the beautiful Siliserh Lake on the edge of the park has a large number of crocodiles, leopard, sambhar, chital, nilgai, four-horned antelope, wild boar and other jungle cats.
