Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth

NITI Aayog, the policy think tank of India, initiated a project called Vision India @2047 to formulate a comprehensive plan to delineate the trajectory of India’s progress over the next 25 years. This project encapsulates the vision to position India as a global frontrunner in innovation and technology, as an exemplar of development and social well-being, and as a dedicated champion of environmentally sustainable development.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched “Viksit Bharat @2047:Voice of Youth” during a workshop organized by Rajbhavan addressing Vice Chancellors of the universities, and heads of Institutes. He lauded their contribution to guiding the youth of the nation in the accomplishment of this goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized that it is now time for India to take a quantum leap in development. In the history of nations, there comes a time when a nation makes exponential strides in its development. Highlighting that this time was the right time he gave the slogan” Yehi samay hai, Sahi samay hai”. The significance of the chosen year 2047 is going to be 100 years of Independent India. Therefore, the sentiment of being a developed nation is extremely relevant. The vision is to see India grow in all sectors of life, economic, and social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.

Today, India is the fifth-largest economy in the world, and according to the IMF( International Monetary Fund), we will be the third-largest economy as our suggested GDP will cross US $5 trillion. By the 100th year of our independence, we will be poised to be a US $30 trillion economy in all the attributes of a developed nation. These estimates ought to be right considering our rapidly growing population, the vision requires special campaigns in every college and university in the country to attract more youth towards this goal. A portal called “Ideas Portal” has been launched where individuals can suggest ideas on five different themes. To encourage this launch, a prize has also been arranged for the best 10 suggestions.

What are the elements of developing India in Vision @2047?

  • The structural change in our focus from the low-productivity sector to the high productivity sector is to boost economic growth, create jobs, and reduce poverty.

  •  Organizing the labor market is also one of the aspects of the plan. To improve the quality and quantity of labor, enhance the skills, employability, and efficient labor regulation.

  • Increase competitiveness in the market, by improving efficiency and innovation, reducing informality, and promoting social protection.

  • Financial and social inclusion for expanding access and affordability of welfare schemes and financial services for poor and marginalized groups.

It is the vision of every India to see ourselves as a developing country and wait for the strengthening of our institutions and governance for the same. The improved delivery of public goods and services, reduction of corruption, and enhanced trust and legitimacy. As we strive to become the world's biggest economy, we need to grow and develop in every sector. There are many sectors and areas that we need to focus on, aspects like the happiness index of our country. The developed and highest GDP nation may not necessarily be happy. We should focus on both levels; economic development and social and psychological well-being as well.
